I absolutely LOVE my classes with Tim (soon to be 3). I am a beginner painter and his classes are great for beginners and experts alike. He explains every step of the process carefully and in great detail. He is also very patient, kind and encouraging. The critiques at the end of each class are an important element in learning also. I highly recommend Tim’s classes!

I recently took Tim’s workshop “Painting the River”. Tim’s process and techniques on painting water reflections, movement and rocks were so useful. This helpful class lended me the confidence I needed to approach and not avoid future water scenes.

Tim never disappoints. His classes are organized and deliver exactly what his descriptions say up front. His teaching approach is to explain a process followed by modeling the process in a demonstration and then providing opportunities for practice and feedback. I have taken several classes with him now and just signed up for another. If you want quality instruction from a successful practicing artist who also happens to be a genuine human being take a class.

This was the toughest class I have ever done. Painting light as it travels through moving water. I am new to landscape painting but TJ broke the decision making down into bite size memorable pieces. It was wonderful to see what I could paint with his direction. Makes me want to do more classes!

Rivers was my third workshop with Tim and like each of the others, it was excellent! Tim is an inspiring teacher who puts a lot of work into his classes and students, and the results show. It is really interesting to apply the core principles he teaches, including the in-depth self-questioning and analysis of the "what bothers me most?" stage, to your own work, because of course everybody's painting is different, and through this approach he encourages you to really think for yourself. It also puts a brilliant brake on overworking! True learning, not just regurgitating.

Loved this river class! Tim patiently explains every detail of his process and makes it look easy. He is extremely talented and skilled but more importantly as a teacher generous with all the knowledge he has acquired throughout his career and training. This is my second class (first was Landscapes) with Tim and my second oil painting! His easy manner, incredible patience and step by step oil painting process created an excellent learning environment. Although I am very much a beginner, I am looking forward to utilizing the skills learned into many future paintings. I'd highly recommend his classes for all skill levels.
