Tim is an excellent patient teacher. This was my third class and third oil painting. His step by step process is a great tool for beginners and his skill is perfect for an advanced painter. I would not hesitate to take a class, and have already signed up for my next class.

Tim is a most awesome teacher! He started with the basics, sketching sheep and sharing about their skulls so you understood the underlying structures that define the surfaces you would be painting. He demonstrated by painting the sheep and explained all along the way his decisions for choosing his paint colors, his brushes, his mixing techniques, his placement of highlights and shadows. He explained values, placing soft edges and hard edges, and using complimentary colors for emphasis. He shared impasto techniques to create the beautiful surface of the fleece. On top of all of this he then took the time to give one-on-one critiques of each of our paintings at an additional personal session. A very encouraging, positive and helpful workshop with a very skilled teacher!

TJ , is an excellent teacher. Very patient and clear in his instruction. I really enjoyed following how he explained each aspect in drawing the subject, the under painting and building up layers of paint. He was great on wanting us to ask a lot of questions. I really liked the fact that we saw each other’s finished paintings. He was also very good at giving constructive feedback on improving different aspects of my painting. I learned a lot about his painting palette and how to mix colors, etc… I look forward to taking another class!

Though my work is unfinished, I have what I need to finish. Tim is very generous and thorough in his demonstration and his tips and techniques. I learned a lot. This is a very enjoyable class. I highly recommend it!

If you're thinking about taking this workshop, don't hesitate. Tim is probably the most organized teacher I know of. The lessons are thorough, questions are answered, and the one-on-one sessions are really valuable. The final critique helped take my sheep portrait to a much more finished level. Many of the techniques we learned are ones I know I'll be using again. Thank you, Tim, for a great workshop.

Tim did an excellent job at breaking down the oil painting process. He paced instruction and videoed our sessions for later reference. The one-on-one weekly zoom call was so helpful for individual problems in composition, paint application and more. The class critique offered not only a view of other classmate’s work, but Tim’s advice on fixing “what bothers you most”. His comments are always constructive and well received!

I live in outback Australia where internet coverage is not great and therefore did Tim's classes from recordings only with weekly one on one catch ups. I cannot recommend his classes highly enough. Not a single tech glitch, recordings arrived very quickly after live class, one on one catch ups great for any questions and guidance. Tim is an excellent teacher ... down-to-earth, very approachable, generous in sharing knowledge. I ended up with a painting l never thought l would be able to produce. 100% Happy.

Tim is a gifted teacher and painter. He gave thorough explanations about what he was doing in his painting and why. I also felt his one on ones were truly helpful. He helped us to understand the anatomy of the sheep and how to portray that in our paintings. Tim also dealt with color in ways that I hadn’t considered before and the importance of unity and harmony of color, texture and the overall effect of his work. His patience was consistent and he was always kind. Most importantly he made the class fun. Thank you Tim!

A stunningly good course! This was my third online class with Tim, and I had been really looking forward to it. It certainly lived up to, indeed it more than exceeded, my very high expectations. Once again, Tim was a thoughtful, inspiring and ever generous mentor/teacher who challenged me to go beyond my usual bounds and explore the textures and colors of fleece in the pursuit of what became a baa-relief sheep portrait (stock up on Quick Dry White!). Simply so much fun! The weekly format was great, gave time for contemplation and consideration before commitment into paint, and the homework (eg drawing sheep skulls and sheep in action) was enjoyable and very useful. Best of all though was Tim's caring attitude and his attention to detail, both in his very clear and well-explained tutorials and in his weekly one-on-one chats about how our paintings were going, and then the grand finale and very helpful review of everyone's work - in which he also introduced us to his newest son, born during the course! Thanks once again Tim for a wonderful class!

Taking classes with Tim has been an incredibly rewarding experience. He is a master artist and a careful teacher, and goes to great lengths to ensure that each student is fully satisfied with his or her class experience.
I enjoyed his depth of understanding on the subject of sheep-from the shape of their skulls to the feel of their wool. Painting sheep portraits with Tim was a wonderful experience, and I felt that my skills grew by leaps and bounds under his guidance. I look forward to taking many more classes with him!

Tim combines the gifts of a natural born teacher with his accumulated mastery of oil painting. Novices and experienced artists alike will benefit from any one of his classes. We’re lucky that a guy with this much talent is willing to share and spread around his wonderful artistry.

Tim was very clear and professional with his demos. The critiques helped me tremendously in creating a finished painting I was very proud of framing.

This class was my first formal art class. I have never used oils and have very little painting experience in general.
It doesn't matter what level of experience in painting you have; the course will get you further in your knowledge and skill set than you can imagine; it helped me reach the goal I had in mind.
Tim is an exceptional instructor and coach; he also has the kindness and patience that are a must for a great teacher!
I can't wait to attend future courses with Tim Cunningham!

I have taken 2 of Tim’s courses and have another class coming up! Tim leaves nothing out of his teachings. He is an open book and willing to show you all of his tips and tricks and is always encouraging to ask questions at anytime during his classes. Hands down one of the best instructors out there! I love how he has his cameras set up so you don’t miss a paint stroke or what colors he is mixing on his palette . Very close up . Worth every penny spent!

TJ is a thoughtful painter, full of expertise with the ability to convey his unique approach to painting!

This class was truly fantastic. So challenging. It is really hard to create the sensation of soft fleece but Tim led us through it with logic and patience. I'm so glad we are being taught to think more about the subject, the sensation and how to convey that visually.

I learned so much from this class. Tim is an excellent teacher. He showed us every step in the process of creating a beautiful painting. The individual sessions with opportunity to ask questions and get specific help was a really nice touch.

Despite 59 years of acrylic painting, I am brand new to oil painting. This us the first class I’ve taken on my oil painting ring journey. I found the course challenging in a good way. The techniques are quite new ti me and Tim was a good instructor. I found the three one on one chats genuinely helpful and on spot.
